Merry Christmas! A little late!

Mom, Dad, Christy, Nick and Mara came in town for Christmas this year. We had such a good time! Since no one was feeling great we didn't actually go out and do too much, but sometimes it is nicer to just sit around, talk, and watch the kids play. Perhaps my favorite memory from the trip: Gwen had gotten two Barbies at her birthday party. Darcy adopted one of them and, out of the blue, named her "Hot Love" (We had just read an Arthur book where Arthur is getting teased and someone calls him Hot Love, so I do know where it came from. Nevertheless, I was not expecting it to become the name of a doll!). Gwen wanted a funny name for hers too, so she named it Fancy Pants. We are driving to dinner and Uncle Nick is crammed in between the two girls' car seats. They are playing Barbies and Nick is the mom. I am not really paying too much attention because they are way in the back of the minivan, but then I hear Nick say in his best mom/squeaky voice, "Now Hot Love, did you take that toy from Fancy Pants? That is not very nice, Hot Love, you need to give it back to Fancy Pants right now!". Ahh, the things we do for our kids.
