Another Poem by Gwen

I periodically do focus groups for Compassion International, which is based in Colorado Springs. They are a fabulous organization!  Compassion is one of those companies that offers "sponsorships" of children in poorer countries, and our family has been sponsoring three children for about 1 1/2 years now.    We tried to mirror our own family, so we have a 9 year old girl, 7 year old girl and 5 year old boy, all in Kenya.  Anyway, the lessons we're trying to teach our kids are obvious but it's normally not so obvious whether or not they are sinking in.  Let's just say I was thrilled when Gwen asked me to mail this poem to her "pen pal", Ntaanywa:

Dear Ntaanywa, here is a poem for you:

Ice cream and candy are both nice things
But the best things happiness brings
Family and friends, love that's your own
Not toys, not a phone
Knowing God's there
Love to share
