If only the rest of the world was as easily swayed by advertising as Gwen... I was feeling good that the kids have limited exposure to malls, toy stores, etc. I thought they would grow up in blissful ignorance about the outside world. But recently, Gwen started asking if, instead of watching a show, I could just let her watch commercials for 1/2 hour. She is so desparate to learn about the latest toys and stuff that she asks to just sit and watch commercials. The poor thing! She is very in tune to what she sees on TV and is continuously coming up to me with some new discovery:
"MOM! (they all start with an excited MOM!) You NEED to get the Scotch Gift Wrap Cutter for Christmas! You don't even need scissors, you just cut your wrapping paper with the cutter! This would really help you wrap our Christmas presents!"
"MOMMY! They have a fancy hair salon with a blow dryer that REALLY BLOWS AIR! But MOM, it is only available at Toys R' Us. Do they have one of those in Denver?"
"MOM! Is this FLORIDA orange juice?? Because they said on TV that you should buy FLORIDA orange juice because it is healthier than orange juice from other places."
"MOMMY!!!! (this was her most exciting one- she came running into the room out of breath for this announcement) I just heard on TV that CHRISTMAS COSTS LESS AT WAL-MART!!!!!!!"
P&G would love to get their hands on a consumer like Gwen!
