As of next week, we are officially "homeowners" at the base of Winter Park!! Before we even decided to move out here, we decided to invest in the new village they are building at the base of the ski mountain. Intrawest bought Winter Park and is expanding the ski-able area by 40%, building a residential and commercial village at the base, and investing in the town itself. They've done great things for other ski towns, so we are hoping for the best!
We are going to be renting it out on our own, so I would be crazy not to put a plug for it on our blog! The unit is a 1-bedroom, on the first floor right off a giant courtyard with a big hot tub, fireplace, grills, etc. The building is within walking distance of the ski lifts, shops and restaurants. It also has a heated garage - a big perk, believe me! In the summer, Winter Park is great for hiking and mountain biking, and there are a ton of activities right at the base (alpine slide, bungee bouncing, putt-putt, etc.). Any of you reading this would probably just stay with us if you came in town, but just in case.... Please pass along if you hear of anyone looking to take a ski vacation! So this weekend was the Grand Opening of the building, and they had a reception. Gwen got the fanciest face painting I have ever seen! She couldn't stop smiling all day.
