I can't believe it took Gwen so long to make this connection, but tonight at dinner (while eating chicken) she started laughing and said, "Why is chicken called chicken? That's the name of a bird!".
Me: Uh, that's because chicken is actually chicken - you're eating a chicken.
Gwen: Is it DEAD?
Me: Yes, its dead.
Gwen, still a bit confused: Is it a pig?
Me: No, it's not a pig, its a chicken. But pork is a pig.
Gwen: Oh.
She's not too thrilled about the whole thing, but seeing the realization come across her face was kind of funny!
